Petoskey Stone Large Michigan Necklace - Sterling Silver

Petoskey Stone Large Michigan Necklace - Sterling Silver

$50.00

This beautiful Petoskey Stone Michigan necklace measures approximately 1-1/2” x 1-1/4”. The stone is cut and shaped into a Michigan pendant, then polished. A hole is drilled, and a wire wrapped bail is made using quality Sterling Silver. The pendant rests on a 1.9mm twisted Singapore Sterling Silver chain that measures 18” in length. This is the actual piece you will be purchasing, and the chain is included with the pendant. All of our jewelry comes in a gift box.

The Petoskey Stone is most unique in its composition and origin. It is composed of the fossilized skeleton of colony coral (hexagonaria) who lived their life span in warm sea waters that covered Michigan during the Devonian Period some 350 million years ago. Each small hexagonal chamber of this unique stone is a section containing the prehistoric remains of a salt water marine life. The Petoskey Stone is mainly found in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan.
