Petoskey Stone Teardrop Necklace - Sterling Silver

Petoskey Stone Teardrop Necklace - Sterling Silver

$50.00

This beautiful Petoskey Stone Teardrop necklace measures approximately 1-5/8” x 3/4”. The stone is cut and shaped into a teardrop pendant, then polished. A hole is drilled, and a wire wrapped bail is made using quality Sterling Silver. The pendant rests on a 1.9 mm twisted Serpentine Sterling Silver chain that measures 18” in length. The chain is included with the purchase of the pendant.  All of our jewelry comes in a gift box.

The Petoskey Stone is most unique in its composition and origin. It is composed of the fossilized skeleton of colony coral (hexagonaria) who lived their life span in warm sea waters that covered Michigan during the Devonian Period some 350 million years ago. Each small hexagonal chamber of this unique stone is a section containing the prehistoric remains of a salt water marine life. The Petoskey Stone is mainly found in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan.
