Polished Petoskey Stone - handcrafted by Artisan with over 60 years experience. The stone is approximately 3-3/4in. wide x 3-1/4 long x 1” in. depth. It has a weight of 16.2 oz. The stone is polished on the top side and is natural on the bottom. This will give you a before and after conversation piece for hours!

The Petoskey Stone is most unique in its composition and origin. It is composed of the fossilized skeleton of colony coral (hexagonaria) who lived their life span in warm sea waters that covered Michigan during the Devonian Period some 350 million years ago. Each small hexagonal chamber of this unique stone is a section containing the prehistoric remains of a salt water marine life. The Petoskey Stone is mainly found in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan.
